For the first episode of the year, Katie + Lauryn chat about their goals for 2023 + mindsets going into the new year!

We love a second take. We love a second take. Welcome back. Cry Babies. Happy New Year. Happy New Year. It is finally January, the energy for 2023. Mm-hmm. I've never felt more excited for a new year. I think, um, the way that I'm feeling. is good compared to how I've typically felt because Greg is really going at his new, uh, treat. Matt, he's so cute. That's hidden treats. Aw. He loves it. But yeah, like I'm, I'm ready, but I'm not super excited and like, I'm gonna hit all these goals and I'm gonna do this whenever, which is really good for me personally because I get overstimulated. So I think as I'm getting older, I'm kind of understanding how I work. Mm. So love the way that I'm setting my intentions or whatever you wanna call them Yeah. Is very different than I've ever done it and I really hope it works. That's beautiful friend. Do you have any life updates for us? No. No life updates at all? Not really. How was your Christmas? Oh yeah, my Christmas was good. I'm like, uh, friend. How My Christmas was good. Um, it was really chill, which made me so happy cuz I got what I wanted Yeah. Out of it. it was just nice to be with my fam and chill out and, um, not do anything I love that. I love that so much, so much. Basketball. I did watch a lot of basketball that day and read all day. Oh my gosh. What book? Um, what was it? It was, I think it's called things I wanted to say. So what I finished, oh, it was good. Guess what I did yesterday? I don't know. I went and saw a movie by myself. Oh. That's awesome. Thank you, Fred. I saw Avatar, literally a three hour movie. Yeah. And do you know what crazy me? How crazy you were too? So first off, the family stayed next to me. If they ever hear this, you were the nicest people ever. Oh, I do think their son was named the same name as my ex Really? So that was like very ironic. Awkward, um, awkward. Um, but literally, The mom was like, are you here by yourself? And I was like, yeah. I sat myself in the corner. The right corner. Yeah. Cause I was like, uh, it's probably best. And then the seat next to them wasn't taken. So I was like, can I sit next to y'all? Because I like, could not see, I was in a horrible seats. And she was like, are you by yourself? And I was like, yeah. And she was like, how awesome. And so I told her, I was like, yeah, you know, newly divorced. I wanted to do this for myself. And I think she ended up telling, Her mom, which was next to her, so like the grandma of the family. Mm-hmm. And the grandma came up to me after the movie and was like, my husband passed away a couple years ago. Like, I'm so proud of you. Oh. My dad was like, not you making friends at a place where you should keep silent, like, right. You know what I mean? Like, normally people don't make friends at movies. Well, and you were so nervous about going, I'm so nervous by yourself. Mm. So anyway, I went and saw a movie by myself and I had a very chill Christmas as well. Yeah. And I have never been more excited for. the new year. Oh, what I was gonna tell you beforehand, Uhhuh was, I think we talked about this last year or last week. Mm-hmm. how, you know when you get so many presents and you're kind of like, that's it. Like this was Christmas. I realized. that it's because gifts is my lowest love language. Mm. And quality time is one of my highest like words of affirmation and quality time. Yeah. And I had so much quality time with my brother, sister-in-law and my nephew. And then on my dad's side as well, I got to hang out with my dad and my nana a lot. Your heart was full. It was so full Christmas, like the night of Christmas. Even though like my plans didn't go to plan. Mm-hmm. like I didn't get to spend it with my mom cuz she had the flu. I still was. My heart is so full and I never got the feeling of like, that's it. Yeah. And I mean, it was actually like a 180 Christmas this year. Like good. I loved it so much. Yeah, it was good. It was really chill. But I mean, like we've said mm-hmm. just very much ready to just. get into new season like I do, I'm ready for kind of like, I'm ready spring, I'm ready for, I, I told my therapist today, I'm like, ready almost for like the mundane of like January and February. Like those are normally my least favorite months. That's when I kind of, I know I'm gonna really try and make January better than it has been. Me too. January is very difficult for me. Mm-hmm. it's long months. Um, but I'm trying to take. that time to really hibernate, but like in a way where I'm hibernating and working on myself. Yeah. Like it feels productive almost. Yeah. And when it's spring, I really just like, you bloom, pop out, you know? Yeah. No, that's how I feel. I feel like I've always been so negative January and February. I think having a vacation in February will help. Yeah. Because I have something to look forward to. Yeah. And kind of breaks up like the super cold months. Mm. but January, yeah, I'm almost ready just for like, okay. You know, like October two December is so busy, I'm kind of just ready to like have the mundane life tasks. Mm-hmm. in January and February. Mm-hmm. you know? Yep, exactly. Uh, it's exactly how I feel. Pretty much. I love that friend. Okay, so tell us how you're going about intentions this year. Resolutions, whatever it may be. So, yeah, so if. you know, been able to tell already just from the few episodes that we have out. you and I are very different, you know? Yep. and the way we go about things. And so like Katie, like kind of, she didn't tell me exactly what some of her stuff, I know what some of her stuff is, but Uhhuh, she literally has a whole list in her notes. She show made a mood board. I have like moodboard, like numerical goals, I want that kind of stuff. Mm-hmm. and me. Um, so when I've taken the approach that you have right now mm-hmm. where I'm just like, I'm gonna hit it super hard. like this big list. Yeah. And just like getting really excited. I, it's almost like when you have a sugar rush mm-hmm. or like when you crash or whatever, that's what happens to me and then I end up falling off and I don't ever get back on the, the train. Yeah. Um, so this year, the way that I am doing my goal setting and intentions, whatever, is on like a quarter. basis pretty much. I love that. So I, January to March. Mm-hmm. is my focus right now. I have bigger goals, like, I guess things I want to go by. So like what I like put down was be better than yesterday. And me versus me I love. So those are like your two my tiny things for the. For the year. Yeah. I love that. So I love that you have kind of like a theme. Yeah. Mm-hmm. so like that, those two things, um, better than yesterday, me versus me and just discipline, you know? Yeah. Is, is the three big things. Um, but as far as January to March, it's more about like solidifying a budget, setting a daily routine, moving my body. and I wanna start crocheting. I love, I really wanted to start doing that. Mm-hmm. and just, um, writing more on a, like a, you need to regular basis. So I need that book from you. Yes. You do need that book from me. I need you to write a book so I can be your number on, you know, I'd be your number on face. I know, I know. She's gonna be my publisher. I literally what I would be your marketing agent. Like I would do something. Yeah. So that's like, that's pretty much January to March and for me mm-hmm. like obviously. Solidifying a budget. Like there's some detail there. Yeah. My daily routine, there's detail there. Yeah. Which, and I have that, like I'll have like all that mapped out. Mm-hmm. moving my body daily. Like I decided to word it like that instead of, cause I've seen some people word it like that and I love that. Yeah. Um, it's cuz it's low pressure. Like if you just want to literally stretch for 10 minutes Yeah. You just moved your body. Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah. Like there's, it's so much less pressure than people who. doing 75 hard right now. Yeah. Where it's like 2 45 minutes. Yeah. And I thought about, cause I did, I was doing 75 soft mm-hmm. for a little bit right before the temperature dropped. Yeah. Um, and it got cold outside because I really enjoyed going on like the daily walks. Mm-hmm. um, walks are actually life-changing. It's so cold. Like it's, I know I really would still like to do it, especially outside. Yeah, but it's just, Ooh, it's been cold. that's my excuse. So whatever I'm sticking by it. Don't worry. In spring and summer I'll get you out there. God, we're doing it. When you live together. I will literally be knocking on your door every day, like in the morning or later, cuz I can't, I love a good evening walk. We can do evening walks. We can't do evening. We'll talk about our day. Exactly. I love that. But yeah, I have so many ideas of You have any other, um, like, do you have any. Theme for like the rest of the year or are you gonna do that? Like, so say like in March you're gonna start planning for April, may and June or, yeah. Or honestly, probably in February. Okay. Yeah. Cool. I really like that approach. I just got a journal. Mm-hmm. that's kind of like that. Mm-hmm. it's like a quarterly. Yeah. Um, I don't actually have it. Yeah, but I ordered it but I wanted to like actually journal and start writing down Yeah. Like my themes and goals as well too. But she, that's what like, she designed it to have that where it's like a theme for your Yeah. You know, quarterly and I wanna hit, like, I really need to get an Apple watch. I don't know why I always, it's so like, it's so at the back of my, like my, but it's game changing. I need one because I really wanna, like with my moving my body daily thing, Hitting 10 K steps a day. It's a lot. It is a lot. But I feel like you can do it if I'm moving my body, you know? Yeah. You can definitely do it. You know, and if you're walking at your job or anything kind of up and down, which unfortunately it's not a ton of walking, but um, I can probably figure out some ways to Yeah. Or even like seven, eight k steps and work your way up to That's true. 10 K. You know what I mean? Yeah. But that's how I'm gonna be setting my goals. I love that. Um, I am, I think I know by now. I can't do just like looking at the year. Yeah. It, it's a lot. Yeah. And I like somebody, somebody pointed out, um, like, I've never done this before, but I think it's super smart people working their way backwards. Like, I've done that for some goals, but I feel like, especially with big goals, okay, I wanna hit X amount of listeners for our podcast. Mm-hmm. Okay. But how do you do that? You know what I mean? Like, how are Yeah. How are you gonna get there? Don't just have a. Right. Have like an actual plan. Exactly. So that's what I want to focus on now that I have my goals, writing out a plan for each one, like how are we going to achieve this? Yes, yes. Writing down a plan for each one that's like, I need to post this amount of times. Mm-hmm. this many times a week to achieve this goal or however, whatever it is. So yeah, that is my goal, I think for the rest of this week, is to really take time. to and map out your goals? Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Cause I kind of have mine already, but that's pretty much what I've been like trying to do. Are you trying to have like a morning and night routine? Um, more so a morning, yeah. Routine is really what I need to do. Like I saw this thing talking about, you know, having a 5:00 AM like, like start to the day and I'm like, I know I just can't do it. My boss does that. Oh, I absolutely cannot. I really think it would be beneficial. Um, but I do too. I just, I don't know. That can be part of it, maybe. Mm-hmm. I also, I feel like I'm more of a workout after work kind of person, but I don't wanna be that person. I don't wanna do it in the morning. You wanna do it in the mor get outta the way. Yes. Mm-hmm. Um, I used to be morning or early afternoon, but now that I box boxing is at evening, so that's just, yeah. So I'm like, now what do you do? I now work out evenings because I just kind of switched, like I was like a 10:00 AM or like a 2:00 PM girl. Yeah. You would count on me. I was at the gym at 10:00 AM or two. Yeah. And now I love working out at like seven or eight. Yeah. Like a night, kind of a night time worked out. And I think too, like at least once I have a solidified routine down, I can like move it around or whatever. Mm-hmm. because then discipline will, you know, regardless of when I get it in. Well, and I think you'll probably have to give yourself some grace. Yeah. Because when you do move, you know your routine's gonna get switched up. Yeah. So you have to kind of like, Readjust. Yeah, readjust the routine and kind of figure out, well, luckily that's a quarter two Essent and luckily that's quarter two. That's a, that's a quarter two problem. Yeah, no, that's what I'm saying. Like start your, start that routine now and then just that way you don't have to start a whole new routine. Just adjust it. Exactly. Which I think is super, which I'm really excited to be moving into this place because. There's a gym here. It's so nice. I, I think that's really going to help me out a lot. Except I'm about to get a gym membership. Well, I just need to switch mine over. Mm-hmm. because the one closest to us has a sauna. Mm-hmm. And I wanna go sauna. That's what like, you'll catch me read in sauna for 30 minutes. Like I just wanna go in a sauna and sweat. Yeah. I like that too. I love saunas. I do too. I'm gonna be one of my goals, this was not written on my thing at all, but one of my goals is just to be outside more and to. disconnect more. Mm-hmm. you know what I mean? Yeah. Like I want to just be sitting at that pool all like, yeah. Every day. Yeah. At least for 30 minutes a day getting sun. Mm-hmm. because I looked at photos of myself from June of last year, and I looked really pasty, and I was like, did I just not go outside? Like, what was I doing? Yeah. I will be outside every day. Every day when it starts warming up. Sunkissed, well, just the vitamin D, you know? Mm-hmm. Yeah. It's literally life changing. That's good for. amazing. I'm pretty sure I have a deficiency, so you need to start taking Vitamin D. Absolutely sucks. I'd love to have a episode about supplements, cuz Oh yeah, I've started taking some that I really, really like. Yeah, you can go into that a lot more cuz you know me. I'm always asking you random like times of the day texting you about fitness stuff or supplements. Just random. Um, like, Hey, you know anything about this No. Literally. And I'm like, yes ma'am. Um, should I go into some of my Yeah, go ahead. Ahead and get started. Mine, I'm already done with my spiel. I literally, no, because I can't Hyper fixates. Yeah. On thi I, I'm not doing that. I think though I've never done that in the past, like I've wrote goals and I've never looked back at them, but I think I'm so focused on growth this year and I. I, I mean, I talk about my divorce literally every episode. Sorry guys. That's, but it was pivotal for me, you know what I mean? Yeah. Pivotal life changing. So I think I almost need these, like not rigid mm-hmm. because I think that each quarter I'll focus on something different, probably. Mm-hmm. but I think at least having. S some kind of numerical, I can see the progress goals. Yeah. I think will help me. Yeah. So one of the things, and I've already told my boss this, but I wanna go through a successful cut. So right now we're in maintenance. She's reverse dieting me and we're close to like my maintenance calories. And next year I would love for her to put me through a success. Successful cut. So being in like a caloric deficit and just really. Hopefully it like sh Looks shredded. Yeah. To be honest. So that's one of my goals. Another one is just to get the podcast to a thousand monthly listeners. So tell all your friends. Yes. Another goal is to get our podcast, Instagram and TikTok to a thousand followers. So my goal for everything for the podcast is just a thousand. Yeah, I'd love to hit a thousand monthly listeners. Or just like a thousand. I know we're gonna hit a thousand downloads cuz we're already halfway there, which Thank you guys so much. Yeah. Which so cool. 565 I believe. Downloads. Yes. I love that. So that's amazing. Mm-hmm. It's pretty much just like my life. Like it's my vlog now. Yeah. Yeah. I would love to grow that more. Um, especially for those that have gone through a divorce or like a long-term breakup, I think it could be helpful. Mm-hmm. Um, just to see my progress. I know a lot of people message me that are like, This has helped me. Like so many people when I talked about going to the movies by myself, were like, oh, you inspired me to do this. So I thought that was really cool and special. Yeah. Um, I wanna be at like a, a super, um, or not super. I wanna be at a specific client goal for my job. Mm-hmm. So I'd love to get more clients. Um, I want to read 50 books. which I'm at 38 for this year, but I want to be at 50 next year. Mm-hmm. I wanna go see a motivational speaker alive, so I think I'm gonna go see Jay Shetty. He's my guy. Yeah. Um, and then I wanna travel to three new places. Yes. So I really wanna go to, Cancun, and then I'll most likely be going to Florida and then, Wherever we go. Yeah. For our inclusive, yeah. Um, I wanna put money into my savings. I have like a specific numerical goal for that. I would love to solo trip somewhere. Um, and I wanna do some kind of charity related work one time a quarter, so four times a year. And then I would love to like, try out new churches on my own and get involved with a church, whether that is through like the worship team mm-hmm. or maybe doing like a small group for. Middle school high schoolers. Oh, I think that could be really fun. Yeah. I used to do a small group, uh, for middle schoolers when I was like 18. Really? I was not qualified to do that, but I did not feel like I had very much life advice. But yeah. Um, I think that that could be really fun. That would be cool. So maybe even college girls like, yeah. People that I feel like I can help relate to. Yeah. That you can more actually like, more so like relate to Yeah. Relate to and, mm-hmm. that kind of thing. Yeah. Yeah. So those are my goals. Those, those are pretty good. Thank you friend. I feel like this is the first year that's way more specific than just like, um, you know, get closer to God like, you know what I mean? Yeah. Like these are like actual like Yeah. Goals that I can be like, okay. Like yeah, I feel like my. my vision is pretty clear as far as what I want. Um, so I'm really, I'm really hoping that this different approach to how I'm taking it is different. I think it will be, which I'm surprised I didn't say anything about books cuz I do like, have goals. Yeah. What's your goal goals? Um, so I'm still, I'm gonna do 100 Okay. Hundred books. Um, I'm here for it. That's about eight. Ish. The book Club books book that we want to do. I, it's one of her favorite books for the whole year, which is crazy. We need to go get it. if y'all don't know, we're talking about Kenzie, Elizabeth's book club, if you know who she is. Yeah. She does it in Dallas. And we're gonna drive Yeah. And go to book club. I'm really excited about it. Oh, this month. I'm really excited too cuz I've never done something like that. Me neither. Um, and I think it'll be really fun. It'll be really fun. Yeah. It'll be like different and new and mm-hmm. just getting us out of our comfort zone. It's an easy trip Yeah. To make too. So I don't like, I'm totally down. Yeah, me too. Um, but yeah, so. that my book goal is 100 books. Um, you'll never get it. Probably gonna book journal, which I'm excited about. Wait, what's that? Um, like journaling about each. Oh, are you pretty much, you gonna like annotate, like how people like do the little, that, that too. That's separate than like journaling, but like, as far as book journaling goes, is me documenting kind of like my thought process. Mm-hmm. as I'm like reading. All these books. Why do you look that? So cuz the thing that I hate is whenever I reflect on the year and I'm like, gosh, like I've read so many. Yeah. And I've done a poor job of documenting it. I started off really well. Um, are you gonna book journal in in Good Reads or like in an actual journal? It's gonna be an actual journal. I love that. Just like about the book, how you felt. It's pretty much gonna be like a review except it's more like a, um, like a journey I guess. Like what? So you do it after my thought process. The time that you. Probably, probably after each time or like as I'm reading, if like mm-hmm. I'm loving it or whatever. He's so cute. The cats are being so precious today. Yeah, I really wanna book journal and um, I would love to get more into annotating, except I'm such a Kindle reader. Yeah. Too. So honestly, I'm gonna say it Kindle's Elite. It is elite. Ooh, you know what? I do have a life update. So you've really got me thinking, oh, about this spicy marg like situation. It's a life. Yeah. Okay. Like so I got there to the restaurant. and I asked, it's gonna be my new drink for 2023. Then I asked the waiter, I was like, mm-hmm. I really want a spicy mark. Like, can you guys do that? And he was like, well, what we have equivalent to that is a hotel, California. I was like, okay. So I drink. I had that. Mm-hmm. and I loved the way it tasted with my food. Mm mm-hmm. because I typically like sweet drinks. And something about it though that doesn't, having a savory Mm. More experience versus when I'm like eating my dinner, like my actual entree, my appetizer, all that. If y'all didn't know, I'm a huge dinner girl. I love a good dinner date. I love it so much. I love that. I've come to realize mostly I do too. It's a whole experience of dinners, Okay. Me too. I do, I do. I love it. Um, if it's a good place, like I'm so. To try a cocktail, like really just to do it. Which is another reason why I'm like, I need to solidify a budget cuz if I'm gonna be like that. Do you know what app I just got? What? Not sponsored, but I just got the every dollar app. I think Dave Ramsey made it Every Dollar Love that app. You like it? Mm-hmm. I love it. Show like a couple years ago I tried it, but at that time I wasn't making. I didn't really have a lot going on to where I needed to really budget. Like yeah, that's my goal too. I think December always gets a little out of hand because there's like extra gifts you have to buy for people or like things are more expensive or whatever. So activities and stuff. Yes, yes. So that's something that I'm really focusing in on in January is like sticking to my budget. I make a budget every month. I'll stick to it every month. Mm-hmm. So that's my goal is to really, really stick to my budget this month. The thing I realized about the sticking to a budget thing for me is that even with. me liking to go to nice dinners and spend a lot of money on like my hair, my nails, whatever. Mm-hmm. I still spend a lot of money on food. No, same. And every time that I do go out to a nice place, I'm like, this is literally so much better than. All the fast food and like the Starbucks runs and all that, that I do, like, I almost wish I would save like two experiences. Mm-hmm. instead of mm-hmm. So many. Yeah. And I also wanted to say too, um, I, especially with all the traveling and stuff that we're like planning on doing mm-hmm. um, and like me wanting to go somewhere at least once. Mm-hmm. like every quarter. I'm really trying to be more intentional about planning that stuff ahead. I am not trying to do that stuff last minute. No, me neither. Because like, you know how on social media there's like, and this is nothing against these people cuz I love watching it, but people that are kind of like, oh, you can make that money tomorrow. Like, go on that trip today and like yeah, seize the moment and like whatever. I get what they're saying. Mm-hmm. I think it's good, but also it's really, it's kind of like irresponsible in a sense. Yeah. And I've done that too much. Not with trips even mm-hmm. but just like I've done that too much in my past where I'm like, even like three or four years ago, like I'm so broke. Ends up going out to eat. Yeah. It's like, And I'm like, oh, I'll get this money tomorrow. But I stressed, I used to stress out so much about money. Yeah. And now I feel like with having a budget, I'm a little better. Yeah. I think this month kind of stressed me out, but there was just so much going on. Yeah. Um, but I'm the same way. I really, really want to plan out Yes. Okay. What does this look like? Yeah. How much do I need to put back each month? Yeah. Before I even go is, isn't it kinda weird how that mindset. and kind of leaning towards being more spontaneous with those things makes you almost feel guilty if you're not being that way. Yeah. Because you are like, oh, like we're so young, like we should be this way. When really like, first of all, you don't know people's situations. Yeah. People that are out here like, oh, I'll show you how to travel for this long at 20 something. money doesn't just flow back like you do have to work for that. Yeah. You know, these people that are saying that they probably have money. I do believe money like ebbs and flows like anything else, I think absolutely ebbs and flows, but yeah, it's something where you have to work for it. So you, you have to, so, and, and I know my situation and I'm not loaded with money, so I'm like, I'm gonna have to be intentional about that. I think that's the biggest word is just intentional. Yeah. Intentionality. That's a big word. I want to just take into 2023 of me. Yeah. Like everything I'm doing, let's make it intentional. Exactly. Like, let's not do things that are half-assed or like we're gonna do it. I wanna make sure that we're mm-hmm. we're sitting down and, you know, okay, yeah. This is how we're gonna try and it's okay if things change. Yeah. You can adjust that process. Mm-hmm. But I just, I've kind of grown out of that mindset of like, I should be living like super spontaneous and whatever, and I'm like, no girl. I'm trying to have. Yeah, in my bank, so I can go do like, yeah. The things I really wanna do. That's something too that I like. I've always, I don't know, I always get nervous about dipping into my savings or whatever it is. Yeah. But it's like, isn't that what a savings is for? Yeah. I mean, for things like, I don't know, I have to go get like, A dental cleaning. Mm-hmm. like one of like the deep cleanings though. Yeah. This upcoming month it's like I don't wanna dip into my savings, but I was like, isn't that literally what a savings it's for? You know what I mean? Think like that's kinda Yeah. Have like an emergency fund that you don't touch ever Unless for like actual emergencies. I mean that's kind of how it was for me when I got my car. Yeah. Cause cuz like I, that's pretty much what I did for my birthday. Mm-hmm. was I bought myself a car. Yeah. My down payment. I've had so much guilt about using that money for my down payment, but I'm like, is that not what I'm supposed to use it for? No. Literally. It's like, isn't that what a savings is for? Like they didn't go to waste like, I need. I needed a new car. Yeah, got a new car. I'm gonna have that for. Yeah, I think I definitely like invest some of your money. Yeah. Which, speaking of that, have you heard the Acorns app? I have, yeah. I just recently started. dive into it and I love it. It's so easy. I set up like a recurring Yeah. Um, like recurring weekly, like$5. Yeah. And it's like a slow investment. Nice. Which I love. So I've been doing that and I don't feel as guilty about, I don't know, I feel like when I invest my money, it's like, okay, I feel better about dipping into my savings or whatever it may be, because I do have that money too. Yeah. Yeah. It's like if your money's in savings, it's literally not doing anything for you. It's just sitting there. So it's just sitting there. Yeah. If you need to use it for, obviously not things like, I want a new bag or I want a new, but like car house. I feel like I saw a video, whatever about that, about this lady saying like, that's, it's, it's good to uhhuh you know? Yeah. Save your money, but, if all you're doing is living to just stack this money and you're not doing anything with it, like what are you really doing? Yeah. It's not making you money. Yeah, it's just sitting there. So I know there was more to what you had to say, but that was like the gist of it. I love this. Become finance. I know finance talk I know. I literally don't know a damn thing about. No, it's same. Yeah. Don't take what we're saying. Seriously. This is just our experience and how we're choosing to go about yeah. Things. So I think though, being more intentional is definitely a good thing. I like what you said about traveling too, because. You gotta be smart on here. It is expensive. Yeah. And if I don't plan ahead, I won't take the trip cuz I'm not someone to do it spontaneously. And I'm tired of doing that when I was mm-hmm. 21 and whatever. I would be like, oh whatever. Like I can go and then come back and I'm literally broke for like two, three months just because I decided to go on this. Yep. Spontaneous trip. Like that's crazy. Yeah. I've never. I've done that more with like buying myself something. Mm-hmm. or like eating out, never with like a trip. Mm-hmm. I wish I would've done that with a trip cuz that would be a way better experience. I mean, that was even like small stuff. Like even literally going to Dallas. Yeah. Like, would be a problem. Yeah. But I was in school like full-time. Like that was my, like for anyone that's 21 is, that's a problem. Like traveling even to smaller places, it's like it'll break your bank. Yeah. So I'm just like, I'm trying to mm-hmm. I'm trying to level. Yeah, I wanna be able to go on the vacation it be paid for Pretty much. Yeah. And come back and life goes on. I'm excited. Never good's for all inclusives because you paid for it before and you don't have to worry about a single thing when you get there. Yeah. Besides like tipping. I'm excited about that too. You know, gratuity. But other than that, it's like you pay for the whole thing before and when you actually on vacation, you can literally just sit back and relax. You can enjoy it. Yeah. Yeah. Like you don't have to worry like, oh, I spent money for my plane and like my mm. you know, hotel, and now I have to also pay for all my food. It's like, nope. Yeah, exactly. So that's something I'm so excited about. Yeah, I agree. Mm-hmm. So, I mean, I'm, I'm just excited about 2023. I, um, we'll both be 25. I know. Isn't that crazy? I think 25 and 2023. That, to me, it just makes me, I don't know why it makes me so excited. Does it, like both of those make me, like, I just feel really good things for 2023. I, I just feel like it's gonna be really transformational. Mm-hmm. for me. Yeah. Um, in a good way. And I'm just, I don't know. I'm at a point where now it's like things change. Yeah. And that's okay. Like, I already know I have anxiety, so I'm at a point now where I can't, I have to do what I can to not worry Yeah. So much. Which is part of why, like even the goal setting the way I am. Mm. and being just really chill and kinda like, yeah, hey, like, I'm excited, like I'm ready. Mm-hmm. but I'm not like, just, you know. Yeah. Really like jittery and kind of all over the place about it. Um, I think that's good for me. Yeah. Because that's just how I have to move. Mm-hmm. from now on, because I can't live with like, crippling anxiety the way that I have. Yeah. Like this year really tested my, yeah. Yeah. Building how bad it can get anxiety wise. Yeah. So, and I think that, you know, a lot of the time when people have, when people have like intentions or goals or resolutions, it can be really easy to fall off and then kind of like you said, like not wanna get back into it. Yeah. Because it feels so overwhelming. Like, how do I even start again? Cause you had motivation. I also myself really bad too. So like even with my. Goal this year. Yeah. That actually absolutely killed me. I was so on track Yeah. To like hit my goal like early. Mm-hmm. And then just because your goal this year was a hundred, right? Mm-hmm. and the job you have just did not align with, didn't align with, with my, that goal, but honestly your life. With my life at all. Yeah. Within how I wanna live it. Yeah. And so it really just threw me off and you know, I had to almost. detox from that situation before I could even really get back into books. And I mean, I'm okay with it now, kind of, but Yeah. But, um, I really was like not happy with that and I was really hard on myself. Yeah. Cause reading for me is a big deal. Like it's not, it's a, I don't know. I can't, I don't really think I can say it's a casual thing for me. Yeah. It's a big part of my life. It's a big hobby. Yeah. It's like who I, and that kind of thing. So, Um, no, I agree. I was so mad that I'm literally 12 off. Cool. I was just like, I just totally bombed, but it's okay cuz I kind of already have mapped out how I'm gonna start the year Ooh, okay. With like what books and stuff I'm gonna get into. So I think that might help. Yeah, I think that will. Um, so I don't know. I have a lot books I want to read for 2023. I have quite well and also I'm like halfway done. Six books. So I think I'll hit the first of the year with a bang. I'm kind of like that too. I'm trying to finish up some. And then, um, I'm gonna restart the second book in the Magnolia Parks. Oh, okay. Uh, series. Cuz I had started reading it, but um, I just got like a sample. Mm-hmm. cuz it wasn't on Kindle Unlimited. And then the other day, like I saw a post and it was on Kindle Unlimited, so I got it. But then I got the Amazon gift card and I was like, you know, I know it can be kind of hard to get these paperbacks, so I just went ahead and ordered all of them. How many, so many are three. Um, there's four. Oh, amazing. First, you've already read the first, first one and the second, and a little bit of the second, a little bit of the second, but I'm gonna restart the second one when you get the paper back. Mm-hmm. Amazing. So I'm really excited. So this is the first one on Kindle Unlimited too? I think so, yeah. I'm gonna read it. Yeah, go ahead and get it, yeah. Okay. That'll be really, really good. Yeah. Yeah. I have a few that I'm finishing up. I'll probably finish the David Goggin's book by the end of the year. Mm-hmm. I definitely will. And then I'll probably finish, um, my Christmas book cause I really don't wanna go into the new year still reading a Christmas book. Yeah. That just doesn't feel right. Yeah. I wanna. over it. Love Christmas. Yeah. Love Jesus' birth. But I'm ready for January so I'll probably, you know, finish those two. Yeah. And then just try and finish my other books once the new year starts. But absolutely. I kind of, so excited. I kind of think I'm gonna get more into fantasy next year. Okay. I think. Mm-hmm. Um, I would love to read a Court of Thorn and. Oh yeah. But just to see, just to literally see what people, we could a buddy read that and see what the hype is about. We should. Because I think if I read it by myself, I'll get bored and I'll quit. Probably because I don't like slow, prolonged things, you know? Exactly. So I want like quick, fast paced. Yeah. Unless it's a thriller and I know some kind of twist is happening, um, you're just like waiting for it to hit. Yeah. Yeah. I wanna read just really. I don't know. I want it to take me on a journey. I feel like I love that. I started the year, um, last year with, I mean, some really good books. Really. So I, I'm just excited. I want a series. I want a really good series. Yeah. That like I can get wrapped up into mm-hmm. and. Yeah. Take me on a journey. Yeah. And like not the characters don't just end the first bur book, but the first Burke, the first Burke You know what I mean? Like you go on a journey with them. Yeah. Yeah. Because I'm gonna read, um, so like the Magnolia Parks series is what I'm definitely going to, um, I haven't decided if I wanna start there or with Legend Born. Cause there's only two books in that series right now. No. I don't know if the second one leads to a third one, but I just know there's a second one. Mm-hmm. and now I'm like, okay, maybe I should read that first. Yeah. And then get into Magnolia Parks. But it's, I'm probably not gonna do that because Magnolia Parks is gonna be here like tomorrow. I love that for you. Yeah. So amazing. I'm definitely gonna do that. But, I don't know. I'm, I'm, I'm more excited about the reading thing. I feel like that's the most exciting Yeah. That's your like, big thing for 2023. Yes. Yes. Absolutely. I feel big things coming for 2023. Mm-hmm. I don't know why I do, I just, I've never, again, I've never felt this more, this excited for a new year, I think because it's genuinely, it's, it's gonna be like a new start for you, especially with. getting divorced, like mm-hmm. That's probably one That's like the biggest thing that's ever happened to you? Yeah. Yeah. Personally, and it's like my life. Mm-hmm. like, okay, this next year's my life. Mm-hmm. not that it wasn't before, but when you're married mm-hmm. things get, you know what I mean? Your life, you'll be more settled next year. Yeah. I'll be more settled on top of that. I'll just feel like I'm really creating the life, like kind of what you said earlier, which I love. You can see the vision. Mm-hmm. and that's how I feel too. I feel like I can see the vision of who I want to be, the woman I want to become. It's just now about the daily, like grind and hustle and, and what I'm gonna do about it to, yeah. The small, mundane, like almost boring tasks and the discipline that requires to get there. Mm-hmm. you know, so that's how I feel. I feel like I'm almost very excited for the everyday. daily tasks. Like I'm just excited for, I don't know, especially like I talked about, I think before we started, but just having something to look forward to in February for like, like just having a goal kind of in mind. Mm-hmm. like, okay, how my, like, that's kind of a checkup for me. Like, okay, how have I been doing all my health and fitness? Like that can kind of be a good motivational start. Yeah. You know, for January for. Yep. But honestly, I've been loving, I've been loving working out recently. Good. So I don't think, I don't know, I just, me and fitness are still trying to figure out, but like the nature of that relationship. Yeah. Like, I'm still trying to figure that out. But it's just a matter of like, I like your goal. Just move your body. Yeah. Just move it. And that's, that's really gonna be it. I can't, I'm, I'm not going to. get too detailed about it either because I don't wanna get overwhelmed, like I said. Mm-hmm. I definitely will have certain things that I wanna do. Yeah. To contribute to that for a certain amount of time every day. Yeah. But at the moment I am not gonna do, just hit it super hard cuz I just feel like that is not the way that I need to go about it. Yeah. And I think that's where a lot of people mess up. Yeah, they go like completely cold Turkey on like all these foods that they've been eating, whatever. Mm-hmm. and then you have a bad day. You can't helping anything out, anything. I just feel like still allow yourself to have the fun foods. Yeah. You know what I mean? Still allow yourself to have Yeah. Food. And you have helped me realize that like even, like even though I haven't totally like fixed my diet necessarily, I definitely have a different approach to that. Like as far as how I would. while I'm like working out and doing all that. Yeah. Yeah. It's not as crazy as it once was. Yeah. I love that. And I think just those small sustainable changes. Mm-hmm. I think that's gonna be key for both of us in mm-hmm. like our just journey, I feel like just with everything, you know, not just health and fitness, but our goals that we have. Yeah. I'm excited to check up, uh, check back up with you. February or March about your theme for Yeah. Like we can kind of check up and both of us talk about where we're at in our goals. Yeah. But then also talk about like what your theme is for the second quarter. Yeah. I know I like breaking things up into quarters. That's actually very smart. Yeah.
